Ok, so you’ve read all the blog articles by famous or infamous PUAs such as EntropyPUA, Sinn, and Cameron Leone, among others, and now you’re thinking you’d like to be just as good as them. So you see all the adverts for weekend bootcamps, and you think: “yeah, this is just what I need!”
If you’re not sure what a bootcamp is, it’s a special service most dating companies offer their clients. They take you out in the field during the day (to cafes, shops, malls, and the street) or during the evening (to bars and clubs), and get you to approach and chat with women. Some companies offer more direct practice, while others add a set series of lessons or lectures about the theory behind it.
Sounds easy right? Not so fast. If you’ve been on the forums and chatted with guys who’ve already taken one, you’ll find out that in fact it’s rare to find a really good bootcamp. It’s also hard to find genuine reviews, as some companies get forums to delete negative reviews, while getting others to ’sex up’ their bootcamp review. The marketing for the most well-known companies promises you the Earth, so you really gotta take the time to research and ask around for what companies offer the real deal.
There definitely are a few truly great coaches and companies out there, but you can help yourself by going through the questions below before you click on ‘buy now’, as it’s important to know where you are in life and what you want to achieve through the training, and to avoid merely acting on impulse.
- How much does it cost, and what does this include? If you are not satisfied, is there a refund policy or a professional policy set up of how to manage complaints?
- What principles and values does the coach or company hold regarding seduction and pick up? For example, there’s a few companies advertising the promise of 9’s and 10’s and ‘lots of pussy’ and so on, while others advertise a more character-based approach. If you’ve got few friends and have barely had a girlfriend or much interaction with women, then you have some way to go. The promise of ‘pussy’ is plain pathetic and pretty much an easy way to legally con vulnerable and desperate guys into handing over $2000-$4000. In fact, some guys are begging for the chance just to be shown the ropes over one weekend in the hope that it will ‘fix’ everything. It doesn’t work like that – the most successful PUAs will tell you that you need to be a stable, sociable person with a LIFE before you can move forward with women. At least, in a healthy way. So it’s really important to find out what values the dating coach or PUA has towards the whole process of meeting women.
- What is their attitude towards women? Are they advertising ‘tricks’ and ‘manipulative techniques’ or are they encouraging you to be a better, more confident and naturally attractive man? Regardless of who you choose, I hope you’ll go for a company that is going to help you reach your goals in a healthy and respectful way! And concerning ‘tricks and manipulative techniques’, I like what one dating coach confided to me recently: “if they’re advertising tricks and manipulation to get women, then they’ll be using the same techniques to get YOU.”
- Is there a way of getting more information about the bootcamp before you part with your money? Seriously, I’ve seen some websites where there’s a few nice articles about the company but absolutely no details about what you’ll be doing over two whole days.
- Who will the coach be? If you’re expecting a ’star PUA’ or even better, one of the ‘character’s from Neil Strauss’ best-seller The Game, you may be bitterly disappointed. Some companies now hire very young coaches who are learning the ropes one step ahead of you. RSD is often cited as an exampe of this.
- What’s the trainer-client ratio like? How does this compare with the price? One well-known UK company boasts how well-priced their bootcamps are, but neglect to highlight that there is one coach per 10 or more students. It’s pretty tough in this case to get the individual attention you need.
- How experienced is the trainer? If he’s young, does he come across as a brash show-off or simply a natural communicator?
- Will the bootcamp be an industrial ‘one size fits all’ or will it be personalised to suit their clients? Especially where the bootcamp is led by a big company with new coaches, this could be an issue. Younger coaches may not have the experience in dealing with different personality types. A socially-anxious guy may completely go bright red and collapse under pressure if he has a sergeant barking orders at him, while another guy, say, a jock, may click into gear and find that a kick up the butt works wonders. Which brings me to your own state of mind:
- What kind of emotional state are you in? Bootcamps are not held by people qualified to give professional advice, so if you are in a really bad way, you may have to seek another avenue of help. If you have issues, please resolve them with someone qualified to do so.
- What do you want to achieve during the weekend? Is a shag really what you want to get out of it? If so, you can get laid for much cheaper through another service which you can find on the net. Think hard about your expectations and what you can really achieve in just two days, and downplay what most companies are advertising: this industry means business and a few cowboys are making it tough for the reputable companies by promising the unpromisable.
I hope these questions help. There are a few companies which I can heartily recommend, and I’ll write more about this very soon. A successful bootcamp CAN help you move forward towards achieving your goals, and I really hope you’ll take your time to choose wisely.
