The dating and seduction community offers a ton of products, from CDs to DVDs, ebooks and personal consultations. Perhaps the most expensive service however is the bootcamp, usually a two-day workshop taught by a dating coach or PUA (click here for my previous post on some crucial questions you should ask before you sign up for one).
There are tons of articles on bootcamps, from raving over the top reviews (which you should definitely read with some scepticism) to downright condemnation.
So what’s a guy to do? As I wrote last time, you shouldn’t just click on ‘buy now’ on an impulse while you’re surfing the net alone or frustrated on a Friday night. Take some time here to find something which suits you – there definitely ARE a few high quality PUA and dating companies who offer excellent seminars, workshops, and bootcamps out there!
So yes, they do offer some excellent value for money. You just need to find them. The following tips are designed to highlight the most important things you can expect from a quality bootcamp, where ever you may be:
- You should choose the training which best suits your style of learning and which best caters to your needs. This is harder than it sounds, as many ‘newbies’ can’t tell the difference between a good instructor and one with ‘flash game’. What I mean is that some instructors can approach a girl and make it look like he’s George Clooney when in actual fact it’s all just for show. PUA Cameron Teone has a good article about this on his blog here . Regarding your style of learning, some instructors can bark orders at you all day telling you to man the f*** up, while others are more caring and supportive. What works best for you? Receiving the wrong style will not just be ineffective but also be damaging to your state.
- Choose an instructor who has already written on dating and seduction, either through an ebook or blog, as this will give you a clearer picture as to his style and philosophy. Or maybe he has posted videos of his training sessions on Youtube? Personally I don’t believe that a teacher has to be an awesome player to be a great coach, but in this industry it’s hard to justify charging $2000-$4000 or more (!) for a coach who’s really just a few steps ahead of you and still getting training. For example, RSD send their newest coaches to Europe to get trained up, so while their clients may expect to a get a Tyler or Tim, they may instead get someone who’s not quite yet where he should be. Therefore make sure the instructor should be established and have a good reputation.
- A good bootcamp will offer personalised client care, focussing on YOU. Here’s a point I heard one guy saying in Prague last year: “I felt the instructor was trying to get me to be more like him! I don’t want that – I want to be a better version of ME!” This is what you want to avoid, so look out for how client-focussed the PUA company seems to be.
- A good instructor will be able to model how to approach women or how to improve your walk or vocal delivery, without it becoming a massive show-off session. The focus is on you, which means that while he can give some solid model approaches in-field, he should also be able to stand back and look at your performance and give you some constructive feedback on how to improve.
- Next, I recommend choosing a trainer who gives you a deeper grasp of the whole interaction with women, and who also has a solid knowledge of inner game. You should walk away from the weekend knowing where you are, and how you can get to where you want to be. In other words, a good trainer will help give you the tools to carry on beyond the weekend and offer one or two follow-up ‘check up’ sessions to you. It won’t just be a weekend, but a real springboard for growth.
A good bootcamp can really help improve your understanding of women and attraction, and give you a sense of confidence, with a plan on how to realistically improve in the next few months. While choosing an instructor who suits you, please also have a hard think and decide on whether you are ready for this or not. How much work, time and effort are you honestly able to put into this? One good weekend bootcamp can help put you on the right track, and even shave months or longer off your learning curve, but it is your life and only you can take the steps and decisions necessary to improve your life for the better!
Stay tuned as I have a big post real soon about a special bootcamp organised by some coaches from Australia that sets a new standard – and which just might blow you away!
